Survey 18 - "Do you know what your ideal or dream job is?"
60% of jobseekers know what their ideal or dream job is or will be,
according to a recent survey conducted by TipTopJob. Do you
find this a surprisingly high figure given that so many people, even
at 40 years old, turn around and say 'I still don't know what I want
to do when I am older'?
Finding a dream job for life is a rarity and this is proven given
the number of people that are discontent with their current job
and the high number of active jobseekers. This 60% figure consists
of those who know what their dream job is AND those who know what
it will be so the question is, even if people know what their
dream job will be, have they acted on their dreams and are they
actually working in that role? So many people fall into a job without
even thinking if it really the type of job they want to do - but
at the end of the day working earns you money and you need money
to live!
For the remaining 40% of those who do not know what their dream
job is, it would be logical to think that they will always be on
the look out for a new job. This is where job boards become very
useful. The great thing about job boards is that you can keep your
details online, your skills and job preferences along with your
updated CV so head-hunters can find and approach you! To help jobseekers,
job boards allow the very intelligent and efficient 'job alerts'.
Setting email alerts means you receive notification when jobs that
match your job search criteria get registered onto the site. This
saves you time having to check and re-check different websites and
you can sit back and let jobs come straight to your inbox. Without
permanently having to keep searching for a job, you are able to
keep in mind the job dream you have been looking for and set these
job alerts on job boards so that if your dream job is registered
onto the site - you will immediately know about it.
They say the 'grass is always greener' and this applies to your
career as well as everything else in life. In an employment sense
this explains the fact that people are never 100% happy in their
working environment and will always keep their eyes open for a potentially
better job. But is the grass always greener? If you are happy with
your job, that is the most important aspect - and a known fact is
that if you enjoy what you are doing, you will in fact never have
to work another day in your life!
